A Curious Observation

A Curious Observation

As I drove down a main street Sunday I noticed a curious thing. There were a preponderance of political signs in the median urging people to vote for various candidates in the election to be held tomorrow. As I looked closer, there were many wire supports for signs with nothing on them. Then it dawned on me. These were the “Vote Yes” signs for the Value Them Both campaign to regulate abortion in Kansas. They had been stolen by those…

Time to Vote

Time to Vote

We have a wonderful privilege in this nation. If we don’t like the way things are run, we can spend our vote for some other leader. At the moment, things don’t seem to be going too well. A week from today we will be able to do something about it by prayerfully voting for some primary candidates.  According to several prophets including Tim Sheets out of Middletown, Ohio, there are going to be some interesting times between now and the…

A Very Important Question

A Very Important Question

Question I am a tiny lifewaiting to be born. All systems are go,I’m waiting to blow my horn. Some say I don’t deserve to live“Not convenient at this time.”But God created meso it must be my time to shine. So I…

A Word from the Lord

A Word from the Lord

When reading the Bible, sometimes a scripture seems to jump off the page and smack you between the eyes. That happened to me the other day as I read through Ezekiel–Chapter 35, the last part of verse 6. I don’t ever recall reading that before but there it was, plain as day. Ezekiel 35:6b: . . .since you have not hated bloodshed, therefor bloodshed will pursue you. As I pondered that line, I though of places like Chicago. Their mayor…

New Testament Readers

New Testament Readers

Someone told me of a conversation they had at a garage sale. The person said, “We only read and study the New Testament at our church.”             When I heard that, I was reminded of a house I saw on the news recently. It sat on the edge of the river. They suffered heavy rains. The earth under the home gave way and the whole house slid into the swollen river and floated away.             I then saw another picture…

A Garden Tale

A Garden Tale

A few weeks ago I shared my little garden on the dining room table here. Now those little seeds are all grown up! There are more items in my patio garden, but I didn’t want to drag them all to one place.  Hopefully we’ll have some yummy produce soon.  Have you all planted this year? How is it going? It was really wet for a while–then extremely hot. Kinda hard on plants, for sure.   My books are available at https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B007F5H0H4

A Thought

A Thought

There has been much discussion of late about abortion. I wrote a poem after the last school shooting I’d like to share with you. Strange Split People mourn the killing of the born, but who mourns the death of the unborn? Open our eyes to see the dichotomy, the split personality of mourning those who’ve lived a few yearswhile neglecting those without a tear who’ve been robbed of even one breathnever to lay on their mother’s breast.   My books are available…

Just a Little Wind

Just a Little Wind

Early last Wednesday morning we had 110 mile an hour winds all down 95 street for about 17 miles. It started in Lenexa, KS (pictured) and ended in Raytown, MO. We suffered no damage, but this tree lay near 95 & Quivira. It tore part of the roof off Colonial Presbyterian Church at 95th and Wornall in Kansas City, MO. There were four recorded tornadoes in the Kansas City area that morning. Tornado season is upon us!   My books…

Seeing Eyes

Seeing Eyes

I reached into my purse for my phone to show grandson, Sam, a message. Then it hit me. That thing I saw fly off the front of my car on the highway was my phone that I laid there in my garage twenty minutes earlier. It wasn’t a piece of paper—it was my phone; my brains!             “Oh no! My phone!”             “What’s the matter, Grandma? Did you leave your phone in the car?”             “No. It’s on the fly-over…

Traditions

Traditions

Isn’t it strange how some things become traditions? Early in our marriage my husband insisted we visit the graves of our ancestors to leave flowers at each grave every Memorial Day. We’d travel from Kansas City to the Fort Scott 1st National Cemetery in Kansas, then on to Nevada, MO, and then out to Harwood, MO. Now that he’s gone, different family members and I follow the pilgrimage to the letter. Because it’s a several hour trip, we always stop…
