Traveler’s Feast

Traveler’s Feast

Recently, grandson Sam, visited Egypt and Tanzania where he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. While there, he texted his mom and asked, “Do you think it would be rude, if when I got back we invited ourselves to Grandma’s house for pot roast?” I think he was ready for some good ole’ down home cooking! The day after he got home we gathered to feast on pot roast with carrots and potatoes, asparagus, fresh zucchini from the garden, and kale salad. Oh,…

1st Pepper

1st Pepper

Leave a Comment /  / By Sally Jadlow This year I have rented a raised garden bed at church surrounded by a 10 foot high fence. When I planted my garden around my patio, the squirrels and rabbits had a feast, but not me. This year, the garden is incredible! Here’s a picture of the first green pepper. Notice there are no varmint bites. I can’t wait to taste potatoes, zucchini, green beans, tomatoes and squash.

Meet Clem

Meet Clem

Clem the Clematis is going great guns this spring. I sent this picture to a friend who puts scriptures on pictures. (I haven’t mastered that yet.) She sent my photo back to me after her magic. Now, even after Clem has finished blooming I can enjoy his splendor.  Do you name your plants? Clem got his official name because I can never remember it.   My books are available at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Sally-Jadlow/author/B007F5H0H4

It’s Strawberry Time!

It’s Strawberry Time!

Here’s the first of my strawberry crop. They’re supposed to be ever-bearing but I think they kind-of forgot the “ever” part!  I love to eat fresh strawberries on pie dough. Here’s my dough recipe. It works like playdough. Very easy. I keep a batch in the refrigerator all the time in a Ziplock bag. Pie Crust-Never-fail Variety Grandma Sally lived in south-west Missouri on a farm. Down the road and a half mile south, lived Bernice (pronounced Burn-nis, with the…

New Patio Plant

New Patio Plant

This week at Costco they tantalized plant lovers with a unique offering. They stuck geraniums into a pot with these tall stems with foo foo on the top. Got any idea what that plant is? Papyrus. This is what grew in Egypt that provided their writing paper. I’m so glad writers today don’t have to make their own paper before they craft word pictures for readers to enjoy!

Latest Adventure in Oklahoma

Latest Adventure in Oklahoma

This past weekend I attended The Oklahoma Writers Conference in Oklahoma City with some of my friends from Kansas City Writers Group. The last night’s banquet ends with awarding winners of the 36 category contest. Our group did well. We brought home around six awards.  I won 1st Honorable Mention for my how-to article “How to Locate a Gas Well.” As we left the next morning I noticed the tree pictured at the beginning of the blog and wrote this…

Got a New Grandson!

Got a New Grandson!

Granddaughter, Keilah married Weston last weekend. They make a lovely couple and a great pair. Finally tied the knot after seven years! Keilah is my eldest son’s eldest daughter. More weddings planned later this year. Our family tree seems to be sprouting branches everywhere! Keilah is a clothing designer. She had a hard time picking just one dress, so she wore one for photos before the wedding and another at the wedding.

Amaryllis

Amaryllis

Usually Amaryllis bloom at Easter. This year I didn’t get them out of the basement in time. Now they are going full blast. I think they look like little trumpets–as if to shout, “He (Jesus) is risen! He is risen indeed!” What flowers do you have chomping at the bit to be seen?   My books are available at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Sally-Jadlow/author/B007F5H0H4
