Listen to God’s Prophets and Succeed

Listen to God’s Prophets and Succeed

Today we find all kinds of crazy stuff on the internet in our inboxes. This guy is the real deal. He is a true prophet of God. He posts prayers every day for us to pray together and a great source of hope. God is still in the business of the impossible. The Bible has an account of when king Jehoshaphat was facing an enemy. 2 Chron. 20:20 They rose early in the morning and went out to the wilderness…

New Year 2021

New Year 2021

We kiss 2020 goodbye and turn the calendars to 2021. This past week we had a nice little snowstorm that left us with a blanket of white. My son, Josh surprised me the other night with a beautiful fresh poinsettia. Life is full of sweet surprises. This is a time for goal-setting, although that and outlining stories send me into orbit. I think I’d rather pray a prayer poem for this new year. That’s more my style. I Love You,…

The Greatest Gift

The Greatest Gift

Someone sent this to me and I wanted to share it with you. It is from someone named Brant Hansen and was from his 2019 FaceBook page. “Mangers are odd little things. They’re feeding troughs, of course. In ancient Israel, they were made of stone. They’re not super-comfortable, but you know what? In a pinch, they can be kind of protective. That’s why experts -priests who lived near Bethlehem, near a hill known for raising sacrificial lambs- would put lambs…

Beware of the Buggers

Beware of the Buggers

Unfortunately, the Christmas season brings out scammers that have been hiding under rocks the whole year through. Daily I get emails informing me that, “Someone has just charged $149 to my credit card account. I you didn’t make this charge, call this number immediately!” I go check my account online and it reveals the only charges there are my own. My phone rings to ask for donations to some charity I’ve never heard of or contributed to. Within the last…

Hold Fast

Hold Fast

A couple of weeks ago the phrase “hold fast” kept coming to me.  It came in the daytime and even in the middle of the night. Finally, I got up at 3:00 a.m. to see where it appeared in the Bible. The first instance was Hebrews 3:6 which reads, “but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.” The…

Special Birthday-Inspiring Read

Special Birthday-Inspiring Read

With my birthday always falling on or near Thanksgiving, it’s usually a hassle to carve out time for any celebration time. Last week my kids took me to First Watch for a lovely two-hour brunch for my 78th birthday. We had a blessed time together. Three brought me beautiful flowers. The fourth brought me a book entitled Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets.  I highly recommend this inspiring and informative book for anyone with even the most casual interest in prayer,…

The Power in Praise

The Power in Praise

In this week of Thanksgiving our attention is on giving praise. Hebrews 13:15 says, “let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.” Two words stand out here to me. Continually, means “without cessation or intermission; unceasingly; always.” So we are to be in a constant state of giving thanks by praise to God. But what if what’s happening looks very bleak? The person you’re praying…
