Traditions

As we move through life we establish many traditions. Some are better than others. The Bible tells us there are traditions of men and traditions which the Bible teaches.

Colosians tells us that some traditions the Bible calls “traditions of men” can take us captive through philosophy and empty deception (Col. 2:8).

When we base our philosophy on wisdom other than what the Bible has to say, that tradition can become an empty deception. For instance, how many people base their concept of God on what the world says. Statements like, “My God wouldn’t send anyone to hell.”

Their view is schewed. God doesn’t send anyone to hell. By not choosing to yield to Jesus, they alone are making their choice to go there.

For the last decades, our children are taught we came from apes. That’s not what the BIble says.

Others have the attitude of, “I don’t need God. I’m doing fine without him.” They ignore the fact that there is a day of judgment coming when each individual will stand before Him and give an account for their lives. Just because they ignore Him doesn’t mean He’s going away.

Today, God is giving us time to discover Him and build a relationship with Him before it is too late. Isaiah 55:6 says, “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.”

Have you established a relationship with Him? Are your traditions founded in Him and His word?
