At a conference last weekend I learned of Norman Rockwell paintings that appeared on Saturday Evening Post April Fools editions. There are 57 mistakes in this painting.   • Two Kinds of Molding on cupboard top
  • North American Pileated Woodpecker head is on body of crane
  • Coffeepot spout is upside down
  • Barbed wire in place of clothesline
  • Insignia is on back of fireman’s helmet instead of front
  • Green and red lights are reversed on ship’s lantern
  • One cup is not hanging by its handle
  • Electric bulbs are growing on plant
  • Man’s bust has head of little girl
  • Chipmunk sports rat’s tail
  • Pen holder has pencil eraser
  • Top of brass vase is suspender in air
  • Clock face is a man’s face
  • Candle is where kerosene lamp should be
  • Sampler is dated 1216
  • Winter scene is seen through left window, summer scene through right window
  • Antique dealer’s head is on dolls
  • Nine branches on traditionally seven branched candelabrum
  • Beast, looks like a cougar, is crouched on top shelf
  • Girl’s hair is loose on one side, in braided pigtail on other side
  • Titles on books read vertically instead of horizontally
  • Girl’s sweater is buttoned the wrong way
  • Mouthpiece is shown on both ends of phone
  • Phone is not connected
  • Goat’s head shows deer’s antlers
  • No shelf to support books
  • Lace cuff on shopkeeper’s shirt
  • Five fingers and one thumb on girl’s left hand
  • Gun’s barrel is in wrong place
  • Saddle is on the goat
  • Potted plant is on top of lighted stove
  • Girl’s purse is a book
  • Girl’s purse only has half a strap
  • Skunk is in girl’s arms
  • Sea gull has crane legs
  • Stovepipe is missing from stove
  • Mona Lisa has a halo
  • Mona Lisa is also facing the wrong way
  • Abraham Lincoln is wearing General Grant’s military coat
  • Stove has April Fool imprinted on it
  • Doll has hooves instead of feet
  • Little girl is sitting on air
  • Roger’s group is combination of soldier from “Our Hero” and girl from “Blushing Bride”
  • Brass kettle sports two spouts
  • Antique dealer wears spur on one shoe
  • Mouse is conferring with ground mole
  • Ground mole’s track through wooden floor
  • Dog’s head is on cat’s body
  • Raccoon’s tail is on cat’s body
  • Ball fringe is standing straight up at an angle
  • Stove is missing one leg
  • These are two different kinds of flooring
  • Norman Rockwell signature is reversed
  • Rockwell is misspelled Rockwoll
  • Flowers are growing in floor
  • Girl’s socks do not match
  • Girl’s shoes do not match
