Not On My Mailbox!

Not On My Mailbox!

I went out my front door on Saturday and found this mess. Obviously, a robin family decided my mail box would be their new home. Evidently, there is a shortage of housing sites as well as toilet paper!

I got busy with my broom and paper towels and cleaned the porch.

To my surprise, I went to the front door Easter Sunday morning to find they had rebuilt the mess, complete with mud to stick it securely in place. Once more I tore up the nest and swept the area clean.

After church online, I went to the porch again. During the service they had built the nest a third time. What was I to do? By now, this stunt had grown a little old.

I went to Google.com/images and found the picture of an owl. I printed it off and stuck it to the shingle behind the mailbox. Hopefully, this will do the trick. I think their nest may be in violation of some federal code to build a house on a mailbox.

My newest book, The Road Home, an account of my husband’s lung cancer and God’s faithfulness to widows, is now available in paperback and eReader on Amazon.com. Hard Times in the Heartland and all my books are available here.

  1. Okay, Sal, these birds know what a wonderful household you have and want to be a part of it. Ask the postal carrier to ring your doorbell when there is mail to be delivered! Love it!
