My 13th Book is Out

My 13th Book is Out

This is a book I didn’t plan to write. Recording my thoughts in my journal as Vic died of lung cancer, I never dreamed some of the poems would become a book. As I put words to the events swirling around me, my grief work began.

When we were on our last cruise together two years ago, I captured a sunset off the coast of Maine one evening just before we went to dinner. Little did I know that night what lay ahead. That photo became the cover.

His last six weeks from diagnosis to death went very quickly. Here is a poem penned during that time.

The Racer

The finish line’s in sight—
little doubt what he’ll die of.

As to when,
that’s still unknown.

How we get there is the mystery.
Who we choose to lean on is certain.

Psalm 25:15           My eyes are continually toward the Lord,
For He will pluck my feet out of the net.

Each poem has a scripture reference at the end.

The book is not very long. I hope it ministers to people who have experienced a loss of any kind in their life. It’s available in eBook and paperback at https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B007F5H0H4

It’s just out there so it needs some readers and reviews in order to get noticed. Care to help me get it going?

  1. Sally, Your book came today and I devoured it in one sitting. It is a book I’ll turn to again and again and offer to others when there is a need. Thank you for posting the news on Poetic Bloomings so that I could own this lovely book. I esp. liked “Sweet Chariot.”

My first husband died when we both were 22, after five years of marriage, leaving me with a year and a half old little girl. He committed suicide after a diagnosis of schizophrenia. I remarried several years later and had two more children. Kyle and I will celebrate 43 years together in August. God has blessed me.

    1. Thank you for your kind comments, Debi. You’ve certainly had a tough road. Sometimes I feel life’s crushing blows make the sweetest wine. May I post your comments about the book on my author page? Also, may I ask a favor. Could you please post a review on Amazon?
