Jesus Power
Matthew 9:6
(Jesus said) “But in order that you may know that the son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic—“Rise, take up your bed, and go home.”
The religious leaders of the day scoffed at Jesus when he told a paralytic his sins were forgiven. Jesus knew their unspoken evil thoughts against Him.
He asked those leaders which was easier to say, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Get up and walk.” Jesus had the power to do both because God the Father had given Him that authority over all the works of the devil.
To prove what he said was valid, Jesus told the paralyzed man to get up from his pallet, take it with him, and go home. This left no doubt about Jesus’ authority.
Before Jesus left earth, He bestowed His authority on those who believed in Him and those who would believe in Him in the future (John 17:18, 20).
As believers, we have this privilege, this power, through the Holy Spirit.
Lord Jesus, I pray to use Your authority
to glorify Your name and Your Father’s name.
To You alone be the glory, praise and honor
forever and ever. Amen.
