Kansas City Has a Fever

Kansas City Has a Fever

It’s called Chief’s Fever. It makes all the buildings have red lights. People everywhere wear red red t-shirts to indicate their infection. Everyone is holding their breath for the Super Bowl next Sunday. People don’t seem to be especially ill, but it seems as though this fever has spread rapidly. People are even decorating cupcakes with red, white, and yellow. I’ve even eaten one that had Mahomes hair and headband on it.  Yes, it’s definitely infected Kansas City and the…

Growing Sweet Potatoes

Growing Sweet Potatoes

I happened on a website the other day telling you how to grow 50-100 pounds of sweet potatoes from one sweet potato. I decided to try it.  I bought a plastic tub from Walmart with a lid and some potting soil. The sweet potatoes are to be covered half way into the dirt and watered until they form leaves. I’m to cover the box with the lid and leave a small space open to create a humid environment. The instructor…

Looking Back 72 Years

Looking Back 72 Years

This is a photo of the property my folks moved to 72 years ago this spring. It sat at the crossroads of 69 and 54 highways north of Fort Scott, Kansas. My aunt and uncle and my parents bought this farm in 1951. They tore down the barn to use the lumber on their first 10 units of the motel. They blew up both of the silos. The barn had 32 foot hand-hewn beams inside. The farm had been used…

The Chosen

The Chosen

Have you heard of the series called, “The Chosen?” It is a depiction of many Bible stories.  Beginning December 2022, the third season began. If you download the Angel App you can view each episode on your phone, cast it to your TV, or watch on your computer. Here is the link for doing so. https://www.angel.com/blog/angel-studios/posts/when-and-where-to-stream-season-3-of-the-chosen?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuNSGttHK_AIVhYJbCh0m_gXZEAAYASABEgIxBvD_BwE When they were ready to film the feeding of the 5,000, they invited the people who invested in the project to become the crowd in…

Gas Well Found

Gas Well Found

In September, 2021 I showed how to find a gas well using two hangers. To see a demonstration of this method, go to this website and click the link in that post. https://sallyjadlow.com/how-to-find-natural-gas/ . This winter, our farm house is heated with the gas I found using two wire hangers. We no longer use expensive propane. In February 2022 the well drillers drilled where I told them the wires crossed. They drilled in that spot and found gas at 325…

A Biblical Principle

A Biblical Principle

As I finished reading through the Bible this past month, a scripture stood out to me. Revelation 1:3 says:Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. Many times we talk about reading the Bible, but rarely are we encouraged to read it aloud. That way God’s word gets in not only through our eyes, but also through our ears. God says we will be blessed if we…

Outpouring of Aprons!

Outpouring of Aprons!

This Christmas I made aprons for all the ladies in the family (including the littlest one.) One of the ladies’ husbands (not pictured) remarked, “To give my wife an apron is like giving a blind man a telescope!” I take it she doesn’t cook much.  Each apron has a bar towel on the front so you can wipe your hands as you go. I ended up sewing twenty-two. It is kind-of habit forming, once you get started.  One of my granddaughters…

The Squirrels Are Winning

The Squirrels Are Winning

Sometime back I published a blog about the squirrels eating the garden around the patio. Summer has come and gone–but in spite of my son’s excellent trapping, we seem to have more of those pesky buggers than before. Now they’ve taken to eating the pumpkin a friend gave me. I had intended to make it into pies, but they got there first. They don’t even flinch when I’m around. They just keep chewing. So much for a fresh pumpkin pie!…

Thanksgiving/Birthday

Thanksgiving/Birthday

This year my birthday fell on Thanksgiving. This was number 80 for me. I don’t know how I got to be so old.  My kids decided we needed to make it a special one. They asked the family to write what they remember about our interactions. The goal was 80, but when it was all compiled, they came up with 100! As Sara read them to me, I had to guess who said what. Next up was a game of…
