No Fear

No Fear

In these uncertain times, a scripture keeps coming to mind. It reads: “Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not look anxiously about you for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,” Isaiah 41:10.

When I awoke the other morning, I got the idea to type multiple copies of that scripture on a sheet and cut them to make little love notes to pass out at work. On a Monday, in my chaplain duties I usually see over 300 people at eleven different businesses.

I got busy and soon had them ready to hand out on my next work day. By the end of that day I learned we were likely not going to be able to move freely after Monday. When this blog goes up it will be Tuesday already.

No matter what is swirling around you, put your feet on the solid rock of Jesus and take God at His word. Let His words sink down deep into your spirit. He hasn’t left us alone in all this. He knew this day would come, even from the foundation of the world. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). He will do what He says. We can count on that.

I don’t know how long it will be before I can see the people I work with again. I’m grateful I’ll at least be able to share my little notes with them before we will have to hunker in place for a while. Take heart. Jesus has overcome the world, (John 16:33).

  1. No matter how often I read, hear, or recall this passage of the Scripture, I find comfort and reassurance of God’s love for me and for you. Thank you for the reminder.

  2. Isn’t it amazing that it was in God’s Perfect Timing that you were inspired to write and distribute that scripture message just before the businesses closed?

  3. Sally, thanks for a meaningful post. I like the RSV version of Isaiah 41:10 that closes with “my victorious right hand.” God’s victorious right hand is at work all over the world in ways we have never dreamed.
