Following God
I Chronicles 28:20 Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.”
Over many years, through numerous trials and tribulations, David had come to know God’s faithfulness. He had gathered all the materials needed to build a spectacular temple for God’s worship.
David called the leaders of Israel to publically appoint Solomon to build the Lord’s temple. It was a huge undertaking. In Solomon’s commissioning, David told him to know his God. If he would obey his father’s command, God promised to not forsake (depart from, leave behind, abandon or desert) him.
Solomon followed God for a while. Then he began to follow the gods of his numerous wives which eventually caused his kingdom to split. How many others have followed that same sad scenario?
Father God, may we continue to follow You
until our work here on earth is done.
May we revere You as king David did.
May we see You move on our behalf
all of our life.

Oh to finish as strong as David did. To set everything in place before passing the baton. Help us, oh Lord.
AMEN!
