Prosperity
III John 1:2
Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.
Sometimes we get the cart before the horse. We seek fame and fortune while we neglect our soul. We fail to cultivate a relationship with our Creator. Then when we find our life unraveling at the seams, we wonder why.
If we examine this scripture closely we see a directive of right order. John prays we will first of all have prosperity of our soul; then that will show on the outside. That word “prosperity” means “to lead by a direct and easy way, to prosper, be successful.”
When we develop a vibrant relationship with Jesus first, we will also enjoy good health. That word “good health” carries with it the idea of “Having a good opinion free from any mixture of error, one who keeps the graces and is strong.”
How can we have a good opinion about God and what He thinks unless we know His thoughts inside and out by reading and memorizing His word? Then we will have no mixture of error and will prosper.
Father God, may we order our priorities right.
May we know You and Your ways.
May we be free of error messages
and be strong in You.
