Walking with Jesus
Proverbs 3:26
The Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.
I love the Hebrew language. It’s words draw pictures. This scripture is an example. The Lord, the existing One will be “at your side.” The English version says “confidence.” With Jesus at my side I am confident. But “at your side” speaks to me ten times more than “confidence.”
The next phrase says “keep your foot.” The word “keep” is “guard, observe, give heed, have charge of, keep watch, protect, save life, wait for, retain, treasure up (in memory), perform (vow), to be one’s guard, take heed, take care, kept, guarded, pay heed.” Is that not a full picture? Jesus is our body guard!
The last phrase “foot” can also mean leg. “From being caught” is “a taking, capture.” He’s going to keep me from being caught in a trap. Now, that’s confidence!
Are you aware of Jesus being at your side? If not, ask Him.
Lord Jesus, the bodyguard at my side at all times,
You never slumber nor sleep.
Your eyes are always watching me, so the enemy will not entrap me.
Help me keep my eyes on You, my protector.
Halleljuah!
