Jesus, Our Fulfillment
Luke 24:44
Now He (Jesus)said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
On that first Easter Sunday, grieving disciples encountered the risen Lord on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13). That same evening they returned to Jerusalem and sought out other disciples to tell them they had seen Jesus alive. Their stories collaborated with Peter who had seen the empty tomb (Luke 24:12).
Then Jesus appeared to them without entering through doors or windows and spoke today’s scripture. To help them believe, He showed them His hands and feet. To prove He was not a ghost or apparition, He asked for some broiled fish which He ate in their presence (Luke 24:39-53).
With their recent experience, He tried to help them understand the Old Testament scriptures that spoke of, and pointed directly to Him. He came to fulfill every word written about Him over a period of hundreds of years before He appeared on earth.
Lord God, thank You for Your careful attention
to every detail You fulfilled
which was recorded in advance of Your arrival on earth.
Help many doubters believe Your truth.
