God the Need-Meeter
Psalm 146:5-9
How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and
earth, the sea and all that is in them; who keeps faith
forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who
gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord raises up
those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous;
the Lord protects the strangers; He supports the
fatherless and the widow; but He thwarts the way of the
wicked.
There is absolutely no need the Lord cannot fulfill. He says only
the wicked will find themselves thwarted and not have their needs met.
Those who harbor evil schemes or want to harm God’s people will run into
trouble everywhere they turn. They may look good on the surface and even
seem successful, but nothing is actually right and they aren’t content.
Sometimes we see a person as virtuous simply because he or she
has a winning personality, but what does the Lord think? And what
difference does it make if people only succeed in temporal things?
If our heart’s desire is to please Him, we can depend on God to
supply every need. When we’re so close to Him we hear His heart, our
needs will truly be satisfied.
Father God, Lord Jesus, Holy Spirit,
I praise You for Your all-sufficiency
that meets every need.
