Deer Vigil
A friend in Colorado snapped this picture and posted it on Facebook. I thought it needed a poem.
Deer keep careful watch
across the flocked landscape
wary of my slightest movement
signaling a threat to their well-being.
While all around
pristine snow blankets the area
and a pine tree
they have chosen to nest under
while winter holds this moment
in breathless suspension.

I miss our neighborhood deer. Unfortunately, there are too many coyotes right now.
Darn those coyotes!
I enjoyed this lovely Winter thought.
Thanks.

Kind of calming, isn’t it?
