New Year-New Branchs

New Year-New Branchs

This year started off with a bang. We have a new branch on our family tree. Granddaughter Kate Nissen married Sam Armstrong in College Station, TX in a lovely outdoor wedding on New Year’s Day. She is the daughter of our daughter, Sara and her husband, Scott. The joy of watching our family grow never gets old. It takes a long time to grow family trees, but it’s worth the effort!

Why doesn’t ‘tock-tick’ sound right to our ears?

Why doesn’t ‘tock-tick’ sound right to our ears?

A friend sent this to me. Hadn’t ever thought about this before.   POSTED ON OCTOBER 10, 2019BY TODDE Ever wonder why we say tick-tock, bit tock-tick, or ding-dong, not dong-ding: King Kong, not Kong King? Turns out it is one of the unwritten rules of English that native speakers know without knowing. The rule, explained in a BBC article, is: “If there are three words then the order has to go I, A, O. If there are two words then…

Obtaining End Time Oil

Obtaining End Time Oil

When I can’t sleep I get up and pray. The house is quiet. The phone doesn’t ring. Distractions are at a minimum. Last Saturday early morning was one of those times. I’ll share with you my exchange with Father God. 1/30/22 12:33 a.m.   Father, what is on Your heart?   My people die for lack of knowledge—knowledge I am so willing to give—that I am anxious to bestow. It takes time; much time and diligence to wait before Me—time…

Ever Go Through Bad Stuff?

Ever Go Through Bad Stuff?

Did you ever wonder why God let you go through some unpleasant things?  I don’t know if you’re familiar with THE ELIJAH LIST (mail@elijahlistmail.com). I get it in my inbox every day. They had some interesting insights in yesterday’s post. Here are some of the comments: For the past several years I have published prophetic words in January about what the Lord has spoken to me about the coming year. Looking back at it now, I am stunned by how…

A Surprise Visit

A Surprise Visit

This past Christmas we had a couple of non-family members join us. One surprised us with a visit from Mickey Mouse. Who knew one of Vic’s tractor buddies also has a passion for impersonating  Mickey Mouse? Great-granddaughter was in awe of our visitor.

P.S. to Buzzed Tree

P.S. to Buzzed Tree

I’ve been asked to show you a picture of the tree that got the buzz cut. Here it is.

Time for a Haircut

Time for a Haircut

The tree trimmers came out from under the rocks with the turn of the year. I agreed to “having the dead limbs trimmed out.” Then I went to my dentist appointment. When I came home I was surprised my one and only tree had a buzz cut. The picture above is what had been trimmed! I think I’ll not live long enough to have to pay for another trim!   My books are available at https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B007F5H0H4

Christmas Left-overs

Christmas Left-overs

After the celebrations are over and you have some portions of food left, why not take ham slices and make this yummy dish? It’s from the Stephenson’s Apple Orchard Cookbook. Mine is so stained and dog-eared I can barely read it, but It’s a great way to use ham that wasn’t eaten at Christmas. Ham Roulades- From Stephenson’s Apple Orchard Sauce: 2 tablespoons butter¼ cup flour¼ teaspoon salt1 cup hot milk ½ cup grated Swiss cheese (or Mozzarella) Melt butter…

Draw aside from Christmas rush.Be still; hear the hush. Ponder the One who paid the priceto offer eternal life to all who would humbly bow.Invite Him into your life now.
