A Christmas Poem

A Christmas Poem

Christmas

A baby’s cry pierced the darkness
separating time from a B.C. era
to an A.D. one.

 God’s 400-year silence broken
between Old and New Testaments
by the Word delivered in flesh and blood.
A voice no longer filtered through a prophet.

God’s Son came to earth
to declare His rescue from sin and death
to weary waiters who heard of Messiah,
but now beheld Him with their own eyes.

We, once again, wait for His second coming.
Come, Lord Jesus.
