There is a recent outbreak of the corona virus killing hundreds in China now. It is known as 2019-nCoV and is from a family of viruses that cause everything from the common cold to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.) The virus has little spikes (like the spikes of a crown) that hook cells so the virus can multiply. The word corona refers to the spikes of a crown.
The insidiousness of this virus caused me to think of Revelation, chapter 6 where we get a glimpse into future events. In that chapter the Lamb of God (Jesus) breaks the 4th seal. A pallid, sickly-looking horse appears with a rider whose name is Death. Hades follows. They are given authority to kill a fourth of the world by the sword, famine, plagues, and wild animals.
The way people travel the world these days, a virus like 2019-nCoV is not out of the question. Some discount the book of Revelation as merely a tale told by John. I beg to differ.
II Timothy 3:16 says, “All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.” ALL scripture–not just the ones you want to buy into. (As a side note, The Bible is the only book used by any world religion that claims to be inspired by God.)
Revelation 22:6 says, “‘These words are faithful and true’. . .to show to His bond-servants the things which must shortly take place.”
There is a warning at the end of Revelation that says, “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.”
God said it. I believe it, and that’s that.
