Basil Pesto Recipe
I look forward to this time of the year when you can go out and pick some basil for a yummy meal. This is delicious smeared on french bread slices also. Since pine nuts are so expensive I sometimes substitute sunflower seeds.

Use this pesto recipes to stir some summertime goodness into hot cooked pasta, rice, or grits for a tasty side dish to your meal. You can also use it as a dipping sauce for French fries.
Ingredients
- 2 cups loosely packed fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2/3 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup pine nuts
- 2 garlic cloves
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
How to Make It
Process all ingredients in a food processor until smooth, stopping to scrape down sides as needed.
