How to Win Over the Devil
Psalm 118:6
The Lord is for me; I will not fear; what can man do to me?
The enemy, the liar and father of lies (John 8:44), the accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10), uses fear as a tool against us. He whispers a lie or a half-truth in our ear and then waits as a patient fisherman for us to seize on that bait. He cranks us closer by adding a few “what if’s” or a couple of “if only’s.” Before long he’s got us reeled in, ready for the frying pan.
Our loving Father God has given us His word to use as an effective weapon against the enemy. It’s very powerful but only if we use it.
If we’ll memorize scripture like the one above, it will be ever-ready when we are hounded by the father of lies.
Speak the scripture aloud. Refuse the enemy’s threatening thoughts. Stand firm on what God’s word says. It is the truth—the effective sword of the Spirit.
Do you have ready scriptures to use against the enemy when he comes to torment you?
Father God, thank You for giving us Your word.
May we learn to use it well in order to defeat the enemy.
By Your Holy Spirit, remind us of the verse we need when the time arises
so we will not be defeated by his tactics.
