Path to Victory
Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Today’s scripture deals with the last two pieces of armor Paul tells us to put on. He says God supplies us a helmet and a sword.
When we receive Christ, our thoughts are no longer open season for Satan. We no longer have to follow his suggestions and listen to and obey his bidding. God changes our thought patterns. We are new creatures in Christ.
Our last piece of armor is the sword, the word of God. When we take up the sword and use it against Satan, he doesn’t have a leg to stand on. God’s word is truth, and Satan is the lie.
That’s how Jesus overcame Satan when he tried to temp Jesus in the wilderness after His baptism (Matthew chapter 4).
This is how He expects us to use His word. It’s a powerful weapon. He showed us how it works. Now we need to read and memorize God’s word in order to be expert swordsmen in the Spirit like Jesus. What scripture will you memorize today?
Lord Jesus, remind me of Your word
when the enemy comes against me.
Give me eyes to see and a heart to understand
the enemy’s strategy
so I may be Your worthy warrior.

I love that Paul describes the Armor of God. I’ve been praying, praying, praying lately; think I need to add the Sword of the Spirit to my prayers, find a Bible verse and use this along with the prayers, will add a whole new dimension to the power God provides us, the power to remain faithful on this journey through life. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! Armor is good!=)
