Continuing in Christ
II Timothy 4:18
The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Second Timothy is the last letter Paul wrote to his beloved son in the faith. He knew his time of earthly service was drawing to a close.
In writing to Timothy, he reassured Timothy of God’s faithfulness—of his assurance God would draw him to Himself.
The Lord had been with Paul through a myriad of dangers including beatings, stoning to the point of death, and attempted murder. All these trials made Paul more sure of his safe arrival into Jesus’ presence. There, Paul would receive the promised royal power and dignity Jesus promised in His reign. For that privilege, Paul would be eternally grateful, giving glory to God.
We too have that same gifting to look forward to if we continue to abide in Christ.
Lord Jesus, thank You that like Paul,
You have a place for us
in Your eternal kingdom.
I rejoice in Your constant love and care
as I travel this earthly journey
You have ordained for me.
