I think Amaryllis are supposed to bloom at Christmas time. Mine wait until around Easter. I see them as trumpets announcing the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave.  I’ll share a poem I wrote once when my Amaryllis bloomed.

AMARYLLIS

Pregnant Amaryllis bulb
sends forth tender shoots.
Brims with promise of beauty;
announces another glorious spring
on the horizon
to quench the drought
of winter.
