Be Strong-Trust in Jesus
I Corinthians 16:13
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
This scripture has so many rich words in it, yet it appears so short and simple. Here Paul tells us to be alert. That means, “to watch, give strict attention to, be cautious, active, take heed lest some destructive calamity may suddenly overtake one because of remission and idleness.”
Stand firm carries the connotation of perseverance and persistence. We are to keep on in the faith. Today, people have faith in a myriad of things, but not in the Bible.
Biblical faith says, “I am convinced and place my trust in the fact that God is the creator and ruler of all things. He provides and bestows eternal salvation through Jesus Christ. I also know Jesus is the promised Messiah who brings us that eternal salvation in God’s kingdom.”
Trust in anything other than that is a false faith that will not bring a desired result.
Paul also says we are to act like men. We are to be brave, and increase in strength. We can’t do that on our own. Only by depending on God day by day will we have the strength to go the distance.
Father God, thank You for Your gift of faith
to believe Your truth.
May I depend on You every step of the way.
