Our Place before God
Isaiah 57:15
For thus says the high and exalted One who lives forever, whose name is Holy, “I dwell on a high and holy place, and also with the contrite and lowly of spirit in order to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.”
The word “contrite” means “dust.” “Humble” means “in low station, lowly, humble of spirit.”
All these terms speak of humbling yourself before God. Getting in the dust—recognizing that dust is what we came from. Admitting God is God and we’re not.
Humbling ourselves before God puts us in a position to receive restoration to life and health of our spirit and our soul.
We need to stretch out on the floor, face-down before God; pour out our heart to Him. It never hurts. It’s the best place to hear His voice and receive His answers, bar none.
Father God, God of all comfort, wisdom, and restoration,
I humble myself before You.
Bring me into right relationship with You.
Please meet my needs as You see them.
Fill me with Your joy and assurance.
Thank You that I am Yours and You are mine,
now and forevermore.
