Where Have You Built Your House?

Where Have You Built Your House?

Days are coming that are going to test the construction of our houses–our lives. Luke six tells us in verse 47-49 how to check our buildings.

First, in order to have a house that will withstand the storms of life one must, number one, come to Him. Then we must hear His words, but merely hearing is not enough. In addition, we must, act on what we’ve heard. He tells us that if we do this, when floods come our house will have established a firm foundation and not collapse in the storms of life.

I don’t know if you mark in your Bible, but when I see a life lesson to practice in God’s word, I mark it LFL–Lessons for Life.

Luke 12 contains several LFLs. Verse 15 says . . .”Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.” Verses 29 through 31 says, “And do not seek what you shall eat, and what you shall drink and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek for His kingdom, and these things shall be added to you.”

In Exodus 19:8 Moses told the Israelites everything God said to tell them. The people responded with, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do!” But they didn’t. They made a golden calf and worshiped it. That got them a nice long trip in circles in the desert for forty years.

So, it’s up to us to come to Him, hear His words, and then apply (do) what He says if we want to be found with a strong foundation in the coming storm. I think I hear the rumble of thunder.
