Funny Snowman

Funny Snowman

Now that Christmas is past, the gifts have been opened, and the decorations have disappeared, it’s time to pay the piper. I found this picture on Facebook with the caption, “This snowman is to scare away the bills.”  If it works, we better pray for snow! Here Comes Christmas!

Here Comes Christmas!

Someone ought to show this Christmas Cactus a calendar. This isn’t supposed to happen for another three weeks. By that time, this dear plant will be over and done for another year. Hope you all are not overwhelmed by a calendar that seems to run on high speed through this holiday season. Stop and consider the reason for the season and all that wonderful person is to you through your day-to-day lives.   My books are available at https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B007F5H0H4

Christmas 2019

Christmas 2019

The weather this year at Christmas was exceptional. It was so warm the kids ate outside and stayed outdoors most of the afternoon. In the spirit of gift-giving (in honor of the best gift of all–Jesus) I made each one a warm blanket for their gift this year. At one point someone suggested everyone put on their new blankets for a quick pic. This is the result. I think I made 22 in all. Couples got double wide ones. I…

Don’t Miss It

Don’t Miss It

A few days ago we did our annual Walk to the Manger play at Colonial Presbyterian Church, Quivira campus, complete with a live baby and a cast of at least forty. This production is more than just a play. The words to one of the songs is very direct.   “Would you have been there, what would you have done? Would you have stayed, would you have run? Would He see you, would you just pass by? Would your heart…

Christmas Poem

Christmas Poem

This is the poem that followed when I sat at the computer. Jesus More than a babe in a manger. The King of all kings, and Lord of all lords. The promised Messiah. God with skin on. The Word of God who created the world. The One Who…

Christmas Preparation

Christmas Preparation

Time to get out the Christmas decorations in preparation for the celebration of our savior’s birth. So many times the preparation for the celebration takes precedence over the real reason for the holiday. In a blue funk after cleaning the house, top to bottom several years ago, I wrote this poem. Now, I have learned to stay calm and let dust bunnies multiply under the bed while I enjoy the time with family and friends as we celebrate the real…
